From Self-Healing to Freedom

If I were to name one goal in this human existence we call life, it is to feel free inside.  That includes freedom from suffering and the freedom to live a joyful life.  Feeling free inside includes embodying grace and leaving a positive footprint.  Yet, as human beings, we have emotions.  Our emotions have attachments to expectations and life experiences from the past.  As a result, we are challenged with living our full freedom in the present moment. Instead, emotions bind us to a past, which may require healing.  Through learning self-healing, there are ways to process emotions and move toward freedom.

Healing is the process of transforming energy from the past so that a person can feel free in the present moment.  Whether that comes through feeling emotions or having a revelation that brings clarity, healing requires energy to shift in the body.  There are many ways to heal.  One can look to a drug, doctor or practitioner for healing, but the most powerful healing that can occur is through self-reflection, and exploring the emotional blocks in the energetic body.  The reason this can be powerful, is because the soul feels free when energy is moved.

The key to healing is shifting emotions.  In the energetic body there are layers of information comprised of life experiences and emotions. Emotions are energetic.  Most people know what the energy of anger feels like, or the energy of grief feels like.  These emotions are attached to the expectations we have in life, to our protection mechanisms, or even to how we treat ourselves, and others.  For example, if a person experienced a great loss in their life, but has not fully processed the grief, they may have certain protection mechanisms that would protect them from feeling that grief, because it could be too much to bear.  This person is carrying the energy of grief in their heart and how they operate in the world is affected by this emotional attachment.

Self-Healing requires taking responsibility for what has happened to us in our life. Even if we did not cause much of the difficulty, healing requires the will power to transform the past. If we stay stuck in our story and re-tell this story, we are still inside that story- living it as if it were current.   To heal we much unhook from the past and release carrying around that story.  This can be an energetic shift more than a rational one. This is something we cannot get from outside sources.  There may be therapists and practitioners that can help guide an internal process, but they cannot make it happen for a person.  It is through internal processing and self-healing that shifting occurs.

Here are some suggestions on how to approach self-healing

• When an emotion comes up, take some deep breaths and give that emotion some attention.  It would not be a time to act irrationally.  Breath is your friend here, so befriend your breath and let your breath calm and soothe you until you feel clear to take the next step.

• “Issues” can stop a routine in its tracks.  If that happens to you, make some time and space to breathe, cry, yell, move, or do whatever your body naturally needs to do to let that emotion out.  You may feel like you need to reach out to someone else.  That may be true in some cases, but first, take the time to be with the emotion.  Feel it until the moment passes.

• Create comfort for yourself.  So many times, people are more harsh with themselves then they need to be.  Just going and going on a rigid schedule with out stopping to smell the flowers is harsh!  Take the time to be with yourself, relax, chill out and create comfortable activities for yourself.  Self-healing sometimes simply needs comfort and relaxation.

• Forgiveness is one of the most powerful energy clearing tools.  After you are done being angry, guilty, vengeful, rageful, etc., then Forgive.  Forgiveness clears the energetic bondage between you and the hard emotions.  Yes, forgiveness can heal the energy between two people, but forgiveness also sets you free inside from your own suffering.

These are just a few suggestions for self-healing.  Strength comes when responsibility is taken for the emotions held internally.  Self-healing is the process of feeling into the body, where emotional energy is stored, breathing into it and intending for it to clear.  Self-healing is not to be confused with pampering.  Healing can be challenging and requires courage.  So if you are in need of healing around a particular issue, rather than medicating, blaming or looking externally at the reasons why your in the situation you are in, as yourself: How did I create this situation? Is there a wounded part of me that needed this situation to be this way, so I could get a need met?  What am I getting out of it?  What’s the wound inside me that needs healing?    These questions will help the soul search for a deeper route cause to pains we have on the surface.

Building Core Power Through Energy Healing and Nutrition

By Wendy De Rosa and Anne Guzman

I wanted to revisit the intention of this 2012-year with regard to spiritual shifting. If you have worked with me in a session format or on the Free Conference Call, you may have heard me (and others) talk about consciousness changes and spiritual upgrading. There is another integral piece to transformation and growth, and that is nutrition.
In the years I have been doing intuitive healing work, I find that I can support a person emotionally and/or spiritually. Then, it gets to the point where the physical body prevents healing and transformation from happening or maintaining. At this point, we have to consider diet and exercise. It has proven true in energy healing work that if the body is not clean (free of toxicity, digesting well, or given proper nutrients), energy healing is only partially effective. I cannot stress enough how important it is to adjust your diet to whole, unprocessed food in order to support the next leg of your journey. Especially at these times!
In the past couple of months, I have been co-writing some articles with Anne Guzman, Registered Holistic Nutritionist/Sports Nutrition Consultant. In an effort to provide more information for your personal and spiritual growth, I asked Anne to help clarify some important information from a nutritional perspective. Please enjoy the article and feel free to share.

The Doorway Into Greater Change

Several people have asked what I thought of 11/11/11, and initially, I felt it’s similar to when 10/10/10 came around, and 9/9/9, etc, which is that these auspicious dates bring prayers and meditators together, but world will not collapse on these dates. Numerology considers these a time for a “shift in consciousness.” I believe this is true and these dates are markers for more people reflect on consciousness. If anything see these times as opportunities to have a sacred moment of connection between yourself and universe.

What is more interesting to me than 11/11/11 is the shifting that is occurring now and into the coming year. Throughout 2012, there will be an acceleration of consciousness. The students who were learning from Eastern teachers and ancient sciences since the 1960’s are now teachers. These teachers are raising the thoughts and hearts of the population now. Many people are looking to personal growth, alternative health, spiritual healing, and alternative philosophies to seek answers they cannot find in their day to day. Yoga has not been a closet word in the U.S. for more than decade now- this is progress!

Consciousness maybe on the forefront for those who are seeking to live with more awareness, but it is also seeping into the minds and hearts of the world collectively. We see this in the uprising from a movement who is calling out to restore ethics in business and politics. The Occupy movement is the unified voice for a deconstruction of inequality and a restoration of moral ethics in capitalism. This is a movement in waking consciousness on a global level.

People are angry and fed up, this is true, but there is something underneath this anger that’s worth looking at. As consciousness increases, people who have visions and ideas about how to heal this planet, how to repair damage, how to rebuild the devastation of loss, healthcare, education, etc. – These people will be the ones creating the jobs of the future. The jobs will be coming from the innovators and visionaries that develop from the uprising, not from the top down. That means the visionaries of the future will be people who are in tuned with the fact that there is money in rebuilding and repairing this country and world. This will drive the economy. It will take some years, but I feel the money on top will be redirected to support sustainability efforts.

So what does this mean for us, individually, in the present moment? It means we tune into the core of who we are, we listen to our intuition, we go for our dreams, we become teachers, we become students, we use our voice, and we manifest our visions. It means that by having the intention to make a difference in the world, combined with our own innate gifts, we are tapping untapped potential. Staying true to yourself and you are a part of this consciousness change.

So if you choose to do turn inward on 11/11/11, be a visionary and see for yourself the peaceful, harmonious world you choose to live in. See for yourself your impact in a positive way. It may not change the world overnight, but it may shift something in you. Change starts on an individual level.
Remember: Job creation is not going to come from the top down, rather, it will come from the uprising of spirit, personal will and visionaries.

The Gift of the Invisible Child

The Gift of the Invisible Child
By Wendy De Rosa

Confidence, self-assurance, courage, and trust are all qualities that develop in an individual early in life with proper nurturing and attention. A child’s physical and material needs may be met by his/her parents, but if the child’s emotional needs are not attended to, they may feel not “seen”, therefore invisible. The invisible child is a label describing a youth who’s being and true gifts are not seen, acknowledged or loved. Another way of saying this is: being ignored, under-nurtured and deprived of encouragement. Over time, the invisible child compensates by not making needs known, or not being a “bother” to others, or rebels for attention later in life. The invisible child also learns to not stand up for himself/herself and hide instead of taking the spotlight.

This may be seen as weakness, however, there is a powerful side to the invisible child. He/She develops a rich inner life. The child may self-sooth by being in introspection and the introverted world becomes more developed than extroverted experience of life. In a rich inner life, intuition comes more easily. The invisible child becomes familiar with the internal voice. He/She learns to live in that inner world and be still enough to quiet the mind so that the inner voice becomes louder. The invisible child who understands this gift is no longer invisible when they let their wisdom be seen or heard. Their wisdom comes from a Divine connection that has been cultivated through years of inner contemplation. The power comes when the person accepts that his/her inner world, intuition, sensitivity, and introspection are actually gifts. At that point, he/she chooses to find power in the gift of having been ignored.

Within that inner world there are emotions. Perhaps there is sadness or loneliness for not having connection from the outer world during those younger years. Yet, we are souls living in bodies and here to evolve and grow. That means we choose to be in our power or in our weakness. If you feel a resonance in your heart that you were one of these invisible children, and you feel angry or sad for not getting your needs met, feel those feelings. Then, turn to the power that developed in your inner world. This is your intuition and your wisdom. No one is stopping you from expressing your wisdom but you now. As a spiritually progressing human being you have the power to choose how you want to live, even if your life experiences have been difficult. The invisible child shines later in life because the years spent in incubation were actually preserving the gifts that were always going to be seen….just within time.

How Do You Become an Intuitive Healer?

Intuition is the 6th sense all humans are born with. Yet, through societal beliefs and the expectations that are put on us as youths, some people develop their intuition early, and others learn about their intuition later in life.

Intuition is that internal voice within or that “gut feeling” that gives us the inner messages appropriate for life. Our intuition will always tell us what we need to know to handle the present moment and to guide us on the right path. Generally, intuition can be overlooked by mental distractions and seeking outwardly for answers. It is commonly felt that who we are and what we are supposed to do in life comes from an expectation on ourselves, or from others that we need to live up to. Intuition is that internal voice that cuts through the distraction and false senses of security to give us the deeper wisdom. Every person has intuition. Hearing it requires centering, confidence, inner knowing, and having faith in Divine Source (you can call it God, the Light, the Universe, Love, it’s all shows up as the same light in the body energetically).

Many people have asked me how I became an intuitive healer. They are curious about whether people are born with this ability or if they develop it. My answer is: Yes, we are born with this ability and we can develop it further. Even if you as a reader are drawn to this article, something inside you is speaking to you that there’s more for you to know about who you are. The process of developing strong intuition requires unraveling layers of past, stuck emotions, and old baggage that my STILL be clinging on even if time has passed. We can touch on the surface of these layers by mentally processing the past hurts, but that’s just the outer layer. Once we delve into the emotions and underlying energies to a wound, for example, we are truly peeling the onion.

An intuitive healer will look at these deeper layers using their intuition and perhaps the gift of seeing energy. The intuitive healer may identify old emotions about a certain situation that was experienced, but the emotions were stuffed down at the time. Therefore, there is a block to this person feeling clear. Once the intuitive healer guides the person to heal that wound, a sense of freedom, lightness and clarity can be restored.

An intuitive healer’s main focus is to help a person on a soul and spiritual level. As souls in a body we are in search of joy, happiness, peace and that happens the more we are in union with the Divine Source. So, the intuitive healer will help address and clear the blocks that are in the way of this union.

How to become an intuitive healer? In my training programs, I emphasis that part of the process of becoming a healer is self-healing. A healer must become skilled at self-exploration as well as self-healing. It is best to have a teacher who can provide tools and a safe container for intuitive development. This teacher can also provide support for healing. Intuition can be practiced on a day-to-day basis, but if the goal is to help others, there are wonderful skills and tools to learn such as having clear boundaries, trusting more and visualizations to strengthen intuition. So, how do you find a teacher? Use your intuition to find the teacher that feels right for you. You will be drawn to your teacher, not through your rational mind, or reason. Instead you will find your teacher through your internal voice saying “YES”.

The Importance of Energy Healing in 2012

In today’s age, many people are looking to manage stress, heal their bodies, and grow personally. Yoga, meditation, acupuncture, therapy, massage, etc have all entered into the norm of over-all health and mind-body-spirit balancing. Energy healing is also a form of addressing the underlying energy blocks that lead to stress and disconnection. Life is accelerating and we are becoming more technologically advanced. As a result many people are looking to counter balance with stress-reducing techniques or to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Energy Healing is a modality that addresses the underlying layers of stress, emotional blockage, loss, confusion, sadness, etc. Our bodies are made up of energy and our cells carry information about who we are and what our life experiences have been which determine the overall state of well-being. Many of our current emotional or physical symptoms originate from energy blockages that occurred years prior.
Through energy healing, an intuitive energy healer will use their gift of intuition to perceive the energy in another person. They tune into what their client is struggling with and what the blockages are. Through breath, intention and the process of bringing in light to the body, the client will be invited to release the stuck or blocked energy. The client then feels a sense of relief, a deeper awareness of what just got cleared and perhaps a shift in life going forward

Energy healing is important because it teaches people that thoughts are not in the brain alone. There is a whole deeper information system that is not visible to the naked eye. It’s called the energetic body. By understanding the energetic body, you explore a whole new world of knowledge on who you are, how you live your life and how you carry your energy. This becomes vital when choosing to grow personally. All the information about 2012 speaks to the fact that we have to consider our spiritual health when looking to optimize health overall. Energy healing is a way to sooth and heal on a soul-level, which in turn, reduces stress, restores peace and supports physical and emotional healing.

2012 is considered the year for a major “Consciousness Shift” by many spiritual teachers and leaders. Many people are becoming more aware of themselves and of life around them. As a result, people are becoming more conscious. It is as if a person has lived in the dark for a while and all of a sudden a light goes on and that person can see so much more about their life then they were ever able to see before. This is a shift in perception followed by a desire to know more and heal on deeper levels. A person who has this experience, may not go to the doctor to get an answer about what’s happening to them. That was the old way. Instead, that person may seek out meditation, a spiritual teacher, yoga, or energy healing.

As we advance into 2012 it is becoming more prevalent to heal from a body-mind-spirit level. We are seeing this reflected in industry changes. In 2011, Americans spent almost $34 Billion dollars on alternative therapies (source: http://nccam.nih.gov/news/2009/073009.htm).

We are even seeing medical schools embracing alterative medicine

It may be assumed that these therapies treat the physical body, but when approaching healing from a holistic perspective, there will automatically be a shift in the energetic body. As we enter the age of progressive healing, energyhealing is an extremely supportive modality for reducing stress, calming the spirit and over-all well-being.

Healing Hollywood

The recent passing of Whitney Houston has gotten my intuitive wheels turning in understanding of the loss of inner power in Hollywood.  It is so clear how much pressure being in the public eye is on body image, money, fame and success.  Yet so many gifted stars fall down and struggle, either with drugs, alcohol, physical health, and other addictions.  Why does this happen?

As an intuitive healer, I help people clear energetic blockages and wounds in a person’s body that keeps them from living their fullest, happiest life.  How does that happen? We have an energetic body that contains information on every life experience we have ever had.  Through therapy many people can talk through memories and address the past emotions.  However, consider this:  We are sentient beings.  This means we feel into information coming to us from our surroundings and it’s not always verbal or direct. Much of the energy we soak up from around comes through our empathic ways of feeling the energy of others.  It may have been music, or laughter or the feeling of dependability we get from a friend.  Conversely, it could be negative energy, jealousy, or neediness.  Our intuition or empathic senses will gather information and feed it back to us about a situation. This is a non-rational way our bodies live in community with others.

People who are sensitive, empathic, intuitive and even masters of creating energy tend to be: musicians, artists, actors and other performers.  Those people who use their creative side, tend to have strong second chakra energy.  Chakras are power centers in the body.  We have many of them, but there are 7 in-body chakras along the spine.  The second chakra, located at the sacrum and pelvis area of the body has to do with creativity, passion, sexuality, partnerships and it’s the feminine power (such as intuition, emotions, etc).  When this area is depleted, the symptoms are: low libido, no creative flow, fatigue, lack of desire or inspiration, feminine health issues, or male reproductive health issues.  When this area is excessive, the symptoms are: leaky sexual energy, no boundaries, manipulative, power struggles with partnerships, excessive talking without appropriate verbal filters, drug and sex addictions.  Eventually, the excessive use of 2nd chakra energy leads to burn out and depletion.

A healthy 2nd charka is about taking responsibility for your life.  To specific, this power center is the seat of your creation.  This means that you accept that you have been given the gift of life and you use your gifts with self-respect. As you sit deeply into this area of the body (the pelvis) and rest there, you have the ability to release any and all bondage mentally, physically and emotionally that you may feel trapped in.  Artists loose their strength here and turn to addiction because a part of their soul has left this area of the body and is in bondage with another entity or person or situation that is appearing dominant.  You can mentally try to center yourself, but the deep fragmentation that is truly happening here responds best to communicating to the person on a deep soul and energetic level.  It’s why many people choose to take spiritual journeys.  It may be to “find themselves’, but really, it’s about finding what wisdom and healing will reach your soul and speak to you in that area of your body that you need it the most.  Through the experience of healing, the sentient body will relax and replenish.  Many issues may have formed in the 2nd charka happened so long ago that sometimes a song can bring up more emotion than even talking through an issue can.  Why is that?  Again, we have to consider, that we are beings that respond to energy.  There are times when healing has to by pass the mind and go directly to the body in order for transformation to occur.  Energy healing provides the experience of going directly to the source of blockage in the body.

The process of centering really becomes an energetic shift when there is an understanding of the chakras.  I’ve heard from many people in Hollywood who struggle with image, projection and lack of authenticity.  Many stars make a living on who they are.  That means their energy is being utilized non-stop.  They may clock out of a recording studio or film set, but they can’t clock out of who they are.  In this case, it becomes vital to nurture and center the soul where the person’s power is depleted.  Often in chakra work, if a chakra is depleted, it can be one of their strongest power centers.  It just needed a little attention long before the depletion level.

My heart goes out to those who are so gifted and work hard to offer their light to us through their craft.  Just know, if you are a star and not feeling your light, energy healing can really help shine again.  For more information on my book, Energy Healing Through the Chakras: A Guide to Self-Healing, personal sessions, or my training programs, visit. www.heldinlight.com

Cycling and Energy Healing

Would you ever combine energy healing and cycling?  It’s not common and in fact, most people think of energy healers as a bit woo woo and definitely not in the field of racing bikes.  Well, I may be an unusual case.  I have spent 18 years practicing yoga and advancing my intuitive abilities.  This sensitive side is very innate to who I am.  As a result, I have national healing practice which was built up over the past 15 years and 2 books published.  Yet, as much as I love yoga and the joy I receive from my work, riding a bike has brought about a power within me I didn’t know I had.

I’ll explain more: Part of what it takes to excel in life, overcome difficulty or have stamina comes from endurance.  In my work with energy healing, I refer to the chakras, which are power centers in the body.  Cycling is a 3rd chakra activity.  The 3rd chakra relates to endurance, self-esteem, personal power, determination, will power, ego (healthy ego or the opposite if the chakra is out of balance), and a strong sense of self.    Cycling builds this “energetic muscle” so to speak. Other endurance sports also nurture the solar plexus, but my experience with cycling has increased my inner strength, which is needed to overcome in other areas of life.

People who are attracted to becoming an energy healer or even in the alternative healing word are addressing the subtle layers of the body where energy is stored.  So much of our “issues” are a combination of past wounds and blocked emotions that literally stay stuck in the body. Well, through energy healing, there is a way to address the stuck and blocked energy.  It can be cleared, which provides relief.  Yet, sometimes, it can be a bit fearful to approach some old wounds.  It could feel like opening Pandora’s box of a whole sea of unresolved issues.  At this point, healing requires having guts.  A strong solar plexus is needed to actually to heal sometimes. How do you develop a strong solar plexus?  You build core strength and endurance, which sometimes means pushing you past your limits.

Cycling is a sport that not only helps with weight loss and cardiovascular health, but it also builds core strength and challenges riders to move past their limits.  This can actually move stuck energy.  There have been cycling moments, where I have pushed myself to keep up with the guys, pushed past my limits of pain, cussed like a sailor and even cried on the bike.  You may wonder why this would actually be fun?  Well, there are benefits to the present moment of being in your body, quelling the mind ,and letting your spirit drive you up a mountain. Sometimes, that experience on the bike is training for real life.  It is building stamina, core strength, courage and perseverance.  All of these qualities are building a strong core and therefore a strong and confident self.   When you feel confident, you already healing and pushing through your blocks!

For me, I sit in meditation most of the day with clients helping them work through and clear their blocks.  When I finish a workday, my body craves being out in nature, releasing my day, expelling any build up in me and simply centering.  I am a nature person, and my fondest memories of childhood have been riding a bike.  I remember my first bike and my father teaching me how to ride it.  I would cruise the streets with my gang of other 8 -year old neighborhood kids.  Cycling is very natural to my body and the combination of fresh air and the outdoors does wonders for the soul.  There are many other endurance activities that aid in energy healing, and I highly recommend choosing one that helps build solar plexus strength. It will help boost core strength for life.  Yoga will always be a big part of my life, for much of the same reasons I ride a bike, but it is common to find energy healers in a yoga class.  Cycling, on the other hand, may be less presumptuous.  Yet, cycling is my yoga, my energy healing, my endurance building and what keeps me in balance as an energy healer.
